Nature is key theme at this years Chelsea Flower Show, with many show gardens on Main Avenue showcasing displays which draw inspiration from natures power to regenerate. These gardens are not only beautiful to look at but they also depict some important messages about sustainability, health and believe it or not social media.
We have put together some of our key take aways from the show gardens for homeowners around the world to get inspiration from.
Bio Diverse Trees & Greenery
City dwellers should draw inspiration from garden designer Andrew Duffs sustainable woodland clearing within a city. This beautiful show garden features bio diverse trees and greenery which are known to remove harmful pollutants from the air.
Engaging With The Natural Environment
Over the last few years there has been a common theme throughout the RHS Chelsea Flower Show of the health and well being aspects of gardening and fresh air. However this year engagement seems to be a big focus. How we engage with nature can not only have a positive impact on our physical well-being but also our mental well-being.
Benefits Of Social Media
This may not be an obvious concept for a garden but this year designer Joe Perkins teamed up with Facebook to create ‘The Facebook Garden: Beyond The Screen’. The theme of this garden is connectivity and celebrates the positive benefits of social media as a powerful tool to engage with real world issues, connect people and to drive positive social change.
Home Grown – Edible Crops
Both The Gardening Will Save The World Garden and The CAMFED Garden highlighted the importance of growing food locally in order to help the environment and provide our children with healthy food they can thrive off of.
All of these are great messages which we can take inspiration from and whilst not everyone will have the budget to create ‘Show Gardens’ fit for Chelsea we can all take a little something away in order to improve our health, planet and future.
